Real World Solutions for Real Legal Problems
Kevin S. Mullen is board certified in labor and employment law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He has been named a Texas Super Lawyer in Employment and Labor Law by Thomson Reuters every year since 2016, and since 2021, he's been listed in The Best Lawyers in America in Labor and Employment Litigation.
Kevin grew up in San Antonio, Texas, attended the University of Texas at Dallas (on a full academic scholarship), and, after spending a year abroad (in Montana), obtained his law degree from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law (now Texas A&M) in Fort Worth, Texas.
Before opening his own law firm in 2017, Kevin spent eight years as an equity shareholder in the world’s largest labor and employment law firm representing management (Littler Mendelson), and he co-founded its Austin, Texas office. Before that, he worked in Dallas as an associate in a national insurance defense firm, handling employment, contract, tort, and other litigation matters. As a newly licensed attorney, Kevin was offered a position in the Texas Attorney General's Honors Program, Class of 2001. In that role, he defended the constitutionality of state programs and statutes and represented state agencies and employees in employment discrimination, constitutional law, negligence, and intentional tort cases.
Kevin is the former Chairman of the Austin Bar Association’s Labor & Employment Law Section, a member of the Austin Bar Association’s Construction Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution Sections, and a board member of the Austin Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. Kevin is also a Sustaining Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, an honorary organization that annually invites only 1/3 of 1% of Texas attorneys to join its ranks.
In his spare time, Kevin runs, lifts weights, reads spy novels, coaches his daughter's basketball team, cultivates his taste for Tex-Mex cuisine (hence the running), and enjoys outdoor pursuits with his family (often in Angel Fire, New Mexico). Kevin is married to Angela, and they live in the Westlake area of Austin, with their two children, Jackson, a golfer and multi-sport enthusiast, and Haley, who loves cats, her friends, and competition.
The Mullen Firm PLLC is a proud supporter of the University of Texas at Dallas, Eanes Education Foundation, Operation Smile, and the Central Texas Food Bank. Kevin also serves as the Chairman of the Austin Municipal Civil Service Commission, the City-chartered deliberative body that decides disciplinary disputes between the City and its employees.
